Patient Zero Named Finalist in Three Categories at ARN Innovation Awards 2025

October 27, 2025

Patient Zero has been named a finalist in three categories at the ARN Innovation Awards 2025.

Triple Recognition for Patient Zero

Out of more than 470 nominations across 179 organisations, Patient Zero has been shortlisted in the following categories:

Patient Zero - Enterprise (Partner)

This nomination recognises Patient Zero's work delivering technology solutions to Australia's largest organisations. The Enterprise category focuses on projects involving 1000+ employees, where we've helped clients tackle complex infrastructure, security, and digital transformation challenges.

Paul Seymour - Technical Excellence (Partner)

Paul's nomination recognises his technical leadership in designing and implementing complex solutions for enterprise clients. His approach combines deep technical knowledge with practical problem-solving, helping organisations navigate challenging technology transformations.

Paul's passion for developer experience was central to why Patient Zero was created. He believed great software comes from empowered teams working with the right tools and processes, not from grinding developers down with poor workflows and burnout. Now, with the introduction of AI workflows and tools, Paul is focused on the next generation of developers.

Demelza Green - Marketing Excellence (Partner)

Demelza's nomination celebrates her strategic approach to building Patient Zero's brand presence in the Australian technology market. Her work spans campaign development, content strategy, and industry engagement, which positioned Patient Zero as a thought leader in the channel.

Drawing on her background in product management and UX design (she won the Women in Digital UX Leader Award in 2023), Demelza approached the brand as an experience design challenge, gathering feedback, testing hypotheses, and rolling out iterative changes. The result: a reconnection to the company's heritage, embedded in zombie culture, fun, and innovative thinking.

But in between all that noise, I found myself thinking about how I work, and how I’ve found working at Patient Zero. Some of the things they talked about, like trust, autonomy and team culture, are the things I’ve experienced here.

GPT-5 - the highly anticipated latest version of OpenAI’s hit the streets a few weeks ago. Despite of some breathless commentary from influencers who had been given early access, the eventual release was a bit underwhelming (in a way that only something that would have seemed like science-fiction a few short years ago but now seems passe, can be). Aside from the quality of the model itself, which some people have claimed was more about lowering OpenAI’s costs than delivering a better result, there are some issues that the change to GPT-5 has introduced when integrating it into a product which we thought we should share.

The ability to preview files directly within a web application is a major enhancement to user experience. Enabling users to view uploaded documents or images without needing to download them first saves time and reduces frustration. This can be a game changer in document-heavy applications where users frequently and recursively review and upload files through the interface. There are many libraries, packages, software subscriptions, and external API services (you name it!) that exist to solve this problem. But when spoiled for choice, it can be difficult to decide on which kind of solution best fits your application’s needs. This article explores this conundrum in the context of .NET Core web applications, with a focus on their specific quirks and requirements.
