Who We Are (The "Origin" Story)

Our name has an unexpected origin: the co-operative survival game, Left 4 Dead.

In the game, the mechanics are brutal but straightforward: you cannot survive alone. If a player runs off to be a hero, the team loses. You only win by sticking together, communicating constantly, and protecting each other's blind spots.

Our founders, engineers who spent years navigating broken corporate structures, realised that successful software delivery works the same way.

We are a team-based company founded on the belief that small cross-functional, innovative teams best solve complex problems with equal voice.

The Leadership: An Experiment in Evolution

Patient Zero is founded and run by people who actually understand the domain: software engineers, technologists and designers, not detached administrators.

Dan Dekel and Paul Seymour have strong software engineering backgrounds, while Demelza Green comes from product, testing and design.

We also believe that innovation shouldn't be boring.

That’s why we launched the Co-CEO Series, with the first video experiment where we "hired" an AI as our fourth executive. It’s a tongue-in-cheek look at the future of work that reminds us not to take the hype, or ourselves, too seriously. While the AI doesn't have a real vote, it proves we aren't afraid to play with the technology we sell.
